Fornali Bay where the French frigates Fortunée and Minerve were anchored. To the right is the remains of a small stone tower. The Convention Redoubt was just to the left of this bay.

The beach where the 18-pounders were landed. Wickham's party floated their guns over the lagoon (which is at the foot of the green ramp while the water at the lower left is the Mediterranean Sea) and then hauled them up what appears to be a green ramp and then up again to a point just below the peak. The slope is steeper and much more rugged than it appears in the photo.

This is the terrain over which the guns were hauled. Those are goats (on the left) of the normal size.

The remains of the famous tower on Mortella Point which became the pattern for the Martello Towers built all over the British Empire.
